Bog Witch - Tiny Tale
“She went looking for frogs and forgot to come back.”
There are several ways to become a Bog Witch. None of them are official.
Usually it begins with moss. You admire some on a rock. Then you start noticing the different kinds. Soon you're crouched beside a fallen log in perfectly good clothes because something tiny and green is happening and apparently you need to see it.
Frogs become important. Mushrooms require investigation. A little mud stops being a reason to turn around.
Eventually you develop strong opinions about things called “weeds” and begin bringing interesting sticks home for reasons that are difficult to defend.
There is no ceremony.
No secret oath.
One day you simply look down, realize you're standing ankle-deep in a marsh talking encouragingly to a frog, and understand.
