The Earth tried pretending everything was fine. It smiled politely at passing comets, nodded at the seasons, and even thanked the rain. But feelings have terrible hiding places. So when the Earth showed up one morning with a bandage on its forehead, everyone pretended not to notice. Eventually a tiny cloud noticed the bandage and decided to stay awhile. “Does it hurt?” “A little,” said the Earth. “Can I fix it?” “Probably not.” The cloud thought about this and began to rain anyway. It didn't fix much. But the Earth felt slightly less alone. And from then on, whenever someone suggested that caring was pointless unless you could solve the whole problem, the clouds had two words for them: Apathy Sucks.
